Weight over health
This is me as a teen - unhealthy, a smoker, anorexic and bulimic, i over exercised because I thought I was fat, i didn’t eat because I didn’t want to gain weight and I made myself sick if I did eat because I felt guilty for eating! I hated my body, I hated myself and I was so uncontrollably focused on the number on the scales!
This was a very tough few years for myself and my family, for me I recovered, I was and still am blessed with support from all those that love me and I begin to recover properly when I had my first little girl, a reason to be healthy, to teach her how to love who she is as she is and feel good within!
We hear to often “I want to lose weight”, “I’ll be happy when I lose weight” but when you look at the bigger picture it’s not about losing weight at all, yes you may feel better if you are a few pounds lighter but thats
because you will feel healthier so why are we not focusing on working out for our health, exercising for our health, training for our life and looking after our mental stability when it comes to our bodies
why is our motivation not our health?
We seem to be so inspired by others lives but never our own?
We compare ourselves and our life’s but should we not be taking that time to focus on our own lives, to work on ourselves, to feel happy in our minds and bodies and make a comfortable environment to live in from the inside out. I know this isn’t always easy as you can see from personal experience but this is why it is so so important to work on loving who you are everyday!
We wait for validation from others to fill our cup, to make us feel worthy but why? Because we have been preconditioned to see what ‘perfection’ is deemed to be in others eyes, we are preconditioned to listen to others opinions and over time these become our reality, we focus so much on the aesthetics of people, their possessions and how things ‘seem’ on the outside!
When will this flip?
When will we begin to work on ourselves for ourselves?
WHEN WILL WE SEE HOW MUCH OUR HEALTH MATTERS TO HOW WE FEEL EVERY SINGLE DAY NOT JUST WITHIN ONE MOMENT OF DROPPING A POUND OR TWO?
Remember how worthy you are as you are, if you are prioritising yourself, working on your health by focusing on healing your traumas, hydrating, eating to give you energy and strength, building your body with an exercise or two that make you feel unstoppable and prioritising your sleep.
This will all come together IN TIME and create a strong mindset that you will never lose, you may have off days or days of struggle but you will always come back stronger and more focused than ever
Nothing any good comes easy and loving your mind and body enough to respond to what your body needs is something we all have to work on everyday, sometimes it will feel good and others it won’t but one thing you can promise yourself is that if you focus on the real goal, to stay independent for as long as possible, to continue to walk or stand unaided, to manage stairs and do the food shop by yourself, to feed yourself, to brush your own hair, all the things we take for granted! Then you are moving towards the bigger picture
YOUR LIFE WITH INDEPENDENCE
YOUR LIFE WITH GOOD HEALTH
YOUR LIFE WITH PURPOSE
The aesthetics will come along for the ride but that’s not the reason for the journey!
I weighted 6 stone in that first photo
How much do you think I weigh now?
The reason I ask you is so you can see for real that the number on that scale is irrelevant to your health and well-being!
